DLC For Wii Version Of Rock Band 2 ConfirmedPosted 5:48pm Mon Sep 29, 2008 by Zach Lott Tags: Rock Band 2, Wii, DLC

Good news for you Wii owners who missed out on DLC for the original Rock Band: Kotaku is reporting that a USA Today story has confirmed that the Wii version of Rock Band 2 will receive the same DLC support as the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions.

"While unannounced, MTV Games has confirmed that the upcoming Nintendo Wii version of ``Rock Band 2'' will offer the same online functionality — i.e. song downloads and Internet multiplayer modes — as the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 versions. The PS2 version, however, will not include online connectivity," says the article.

While this is certainly a good thing for Wii owners, it is still uncertain about whether or not the full array of DLC for the original Rock Band will ever be made available on Wii, though a select number of DLC songs were packaged and released through retail back in July. Keep your fingers crossed.

Themed around virtuoso guitarists, the new pack will consist of songs by Joe Satriani ("Surfing with the Alien"), Steve Vai ("For the Love of God") and Buckethead ("Soothsayer"), who contributed the finger-blistering "Jordan" to Guitar Hero II.

A price wasn't disclosed, but past packs have cost $6.25, or 500 Microsoft Points.

Kill in style this holiday season.

Sony's been a bit forthcoming with the Folklore outfit/quest updates, announcing today that it is releasing a holiday-themed add-on pack via the PlayStation Store this week.

The pack includes two new holiday outfits, a Mrs. Claus suit for Ellen and a white trench coat complete with a reindeer sweater and a "festive" beanie for Keats, because defeating Folks should only be done by the stylish.

The update also includes a new folk - Grab Bag - who "takes his enemies down by spreading holiday cheer" as well as a new quest for the duo. Look for the update on Thursday and check out our own review of Folklore here.

No GTAIV for Wii, Exclusive DLC for 360 Version in 2009Posted 2:37pm Wed Dec 19, 2007 by Shiva Stella Tags: Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar, screens, dlc

This guy has scary big hands.

Rockstar has taken some time off from its Manhunt 2 rantings to grace us with some interesting screenshots for its Grand Theft Auto IV. All screens are viewable at the link.

In more pertinent GTAIV news, Gamasutra is reporting that there will be no GTAIV release for Nintendo's Wii console due to the game being "ill-suited" for it (yet Bully is apparently a go, explain that one to me).

In this same fourth-quarter results announcement, Rockstar also confirmed that it will be bringing fresh, exclusive downloadable content to the Xbox 360 version in 2009.

Guitar Hero DLC on the Way!Posted 8:44pm Sat Dec 15, 2007 by Akshay Masand Tags: Guitar Hero 3, Activision, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, dlc, music

Those of you who have been sitting around waiting for some Guitar Hero content are in luck! Activision has recently announced that they have a bunch of songs that will be available to download for the holidays. It's good news for Guitar Hero players tired of being left out as their Rock Band brethren secure Foo Fighters packs.

The most popular songs from the DLC include a three-song pack for Guitar Hero 3 which includes "No More Sorrow" by Linkin park, "Sleeping Giant" by Mastadon, and "Pretty Handsome Awkward" by The Used. Unfortunately these songs do not come individually so if you don't like one, you're stuck with it. There will be individual songs available as well, such as"So Payaso" by Extremoduro, "Antisocial" by Trust, and "Erten Was Wir S?en" by Die Fantastischen Vier. The individual songs are hit European tracks. We'll have to see how those turn out to be in terms of success.

Prices have not yet been revealed but they will most likely resemble the prices for packs that were available for Guitar Hero 2. For those of you who can't spend the money for these extra songs or don't want to, a free rendition of "We Three Kings" done by Steve Ouimette will be available. So pickup those guitars, pop in the Guitar Hero CD,and head over to the Playstation Network or the Xbox Live Marketplace this holiday season for some new songs. Sorry Wii owners, news for DLC content for Nintendo's console is still yet to come.
