Sony Announces MGS4 PS3 BundlePosted 11:02am Wed Feb 27, 2008 by Aaron Dunlap Tags: metal gear solid 4, PlayStation 3, bundle
Good news for the large chunk of humanity that's been waiting for Metal Gear Solid 4 to buy a PlayStation 3. Sony has announced a bundle that will contain an 80GB model, a DualShock 3 controller, and a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. All that for $499.99, or five hundred dollars for people without exact change.

This should be replacing the not-so-popular Motorstorm bundle, and considering the price, game, and DualShock 3 controller (at last), this is actually a pretty decent bargain. Yes, a $500 bargain.

Konami Confirms Metal Gear Solid: Essential Collection (PS2)Posted 12:37pm Tue Feb 05, 2008 by Shiva Stella Tags: Metal Gear Solid Essential Collection, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Konami, bundle

Here's something unique for all you Metal Gear Solid fans, as Konami confirmed this morning that it is indeed releasing an MGS bundle for the PlayStation 2 in preparation for MGS4, entitled Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection.

The Essential Collection will feature MGS for the original PlayStation, the director's cut of MGS2 and MGS3 in a "commemorative package" with artwork by Yoji Shinkawa. The bundle retails for the wonderfully low price of $29.99 and is an excellent way to relive those nostalgic stealth moments while you eagerly await Guns of the Patriots.

"Since its inception, the Metal Gear Solid franchise has been one of the most successful game series in the history of video games, receiving worldwide recognition and praise," said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. "Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection represents a great value for gamers, bringing together three must-have classic titles which pioneered the stealth action genre."

Konami's MGS: Essential Collection is scheduled to ship on March 18 with the appropriate Mature rating. Feel free to preorder at the link.

Three cheers for backwards compatibility.

Microsoft, Capcom Team for Devil May Cry 4 360 BundlePosted 11:27am Thu Dec 27, 2007 by Shiva Stella Tags: Devil May Cry 4, Xbox 360, capcom, bundle

The PlayStation 3 isn't the only console getting a Devil May Cry 4 bundle from Capcom, as the company has now made it official that the Xbox 360 is also receiving a DMC4 bundle entitled the "Premium Pack" (as opposed to the PS3 "BD Pack").

The bundle costs 37,800 yen (about $331 USD) and contains an Xbox 360 with a 20 GB hard drive, the game, a wireless controller, an HD AV Terminal D cable, LAN cable, and a media remote. The Premium Pack does not contain a headset, DMC4 gear, or the extra content of the BD Pack. And of course, these bundles only matter if you happen to live in Japan or are in the import/export business.

Devil May Cry 4 Bundles Set for Japan, with Your Choice of ColorPosted 4:24pm Thu Dec 20, 2007 by Shiva Stella Tags: devil may cry 4, playstation 3, bundle, japan

Here's some great news if you happen to live in the center of the gaming universe (read: Japan). Sony has announced that two Devil May Cry 4 bundles will be releasing on January 31, 2008 there, aptly entitled "Devil May Cry 4 Premium BD Bundles." The contents include:

  • PlayStation 3 40GB model, black or ceramic white
  • Devil May Cry 4 (well I certainly hope so) Blu-ray disc with bonus CG cutscenes
  • 60 minute run-time for said cutscenes (might be a translation error, as that's a hell of a lot of extra CG)
  • 47,800 yen (294 euro, roughly $422 USD) price tag

Pictures are at the jump. I admit that those bundles would make for a lovely stateside release, even if they are post-holiday season.

Nintendo Announces Metallic Rose, Gold DS Holiday BundlesPosted 2:36pm Tue Nov 20, 2007 by Shiva Stella Tags: Nintendo DS, Nintendo, Zelda, Nintendogs, bundle

Nintendo confirmed this morning that it is releasing two new Nintendo DS (lite) bundles perfect for the gift-giving season: a gold edition featuring Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and a Metallic Rose edition with the "best Friends" version of Nintendogs (photos at the jump).

Here's additional info from Nintendo:

The glimmering Gold edition of the Nintendo DS shows the world your passion for excellence and grandeur, since it comes bundled with The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass – the year's biggest hand-held adventure game – and is emblazoned with the series' signature Triforce logo. It's a shiny nugget that any gamer – girl or guy – would be proud to show off.

For those looking for a different kind of dazzling color, the new pretty-in-pink Metallic Rose edition puts a futuristic sheen on your color scheme. It's bundled with Nintendogs, the acclaimed puppy-interaction software that lets players select, train and play with their own canine companions. And the hardware comes accented with a distinctive pink puppy paw print.

As far as availability goes, here's a link to Walmart's listing. Expect to pay about $150.
