E3 2008: Capcom's Booth to be Available to the PublicPosted 2:05pm Fri Jul 11, 2008 by Zach Lott Tags: E3, E3 2008, Capcom

Even though E3 is now an invite-only event, Capcom is going to give the public a chance to check out their wares, as they've announced that their booth will be open to public for a limited time, according to 1up.

Because of limited space, you must RSVP in advance if you plan to attend. To reserve your spot, simply send a message with the title "E3" to this guy at Capcom's website. However, unless you receive a message in response saying "come on down!" you won't be allowed inside.

Sounds good, huh? If you can make the trip, it should be fun time to see some games.

New Mega Man 9 Trailer And InfoPosted 8:08pm Thu Jul 10, 2008 by Zach Lott Tags: Mega Man 9, Capcom, Xbox Live Arcade, WiiWare, Playstation Network, Xbox 360, Wii, Playstation 3, Video, Trailer

It's not quite time for E3, but Capcom has given IGN some fresh details about Mega Man 9 in addition to the game's first trailer.

Perhaps the most interesting announcement is that Mega Man 9 will be hitting XBLA and PSN in addition to Nintendo's WiiWare service. Capcom had previously declared the game to be a Wii exclusive, but the end of the new trailer prominently displays logos for Microsoft and Sony's respective services.

Details about the story have also been unveiled: Mega Man 9 is set after Mega Man 8. Some of Dr. Light's creations are involved in global riots, and Dr. Wily blames him for the occurrences on TV. It's up to Mega Man to clear Dr. Light's name.

IGN notes that the game looks and feels like a classic Mega Man title, with character designs straight from Keiji Inafune, creator of the franchise. There are also over 50 new enemies and bosses, and an online leaderboard will rank you against other players worldwide.

Finally, the first two NES Mega Man games are set to be released on the Virtual Console sometime in the near future.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer, which shows off a variety of levels.

Mega Man 9 Going Old-School on WiiWarePosted 2:00pm Thu Jun 26, 2008 by Zach Lott Tags: Mega Man 9, Capcom, Virtual Console, WiiWare, Retro

The Internet exploded when the news that Mega Man 9 is in development hit gaming blogs everywhere, but many people wondered how Capcom could take the series' old-school feel and preserve it for new consoles.

Well, the answer is here, as Wired's Game|Life blog is reporting that the latest issue of Nintendo Power magazine has revealed that the game will be for Nintendo's WiiWare service and will be styled exactly like the original Mega Man games.

Scans of the magazine article have already hit the Internet, but they're illegible, so you're better off going out and picking up the latest Nintendo Power to get your first glimpse at Mega Man 9.

Resident Evil 5 Due in 2008... most likelyPosted 1:07pm Mon Feb 11, 2008 by Shiva Stella Tags: Capcom, Resident Evil 5, interview, Chris Kramer, release date, rumor

Here's a little something interesting for Resident Evil fans this morning. According to the latest podcast featuring Chris Kramer, Senior Director of Communication and Community for Capcom (I imagine that he handles the hate mail and forums), over at Major Nelson's place, it's highly possible that Resident Evil 5 will see release this year.

And I quote:

We have a really fantastic year ahead of us... a year that's going to include games like Bionic Commando, Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter IV is going to be making its arcade debut next week in Japan. We've got a new game that we're working on in the US called Dark Void...

If you'd rather skip the radio-like melodrama you'll find the above comment at the 30.00 mark.

EGM Says Dead Rising 2 Being Made In US, Not By CapcomPosted 2:23pm Tue Feb 05, 2008 by Aaron Dunlap Tags: Dead Rising 2, Dead Rising, Capcom, EGM, 1UP

According to 1UP, the next issue of EGM will contain a rumor, courtesy of rumormonger Quarterman, that Dead Rising 2 is being developed in the US -- not by Capcom (though Capcom would surely be publishing it).

To me, this is great news (if it's true news). All of the things that I didn't like about Dead Rising (the complicated, unfriendly save system, the ridiculous plot, the crummy menu interface, annoying support characters telling you what to do, lots of reading) are trademarks of Eastern game design. I would like to see Dead Rising done with a more Western flair, perhaps some kind of system where the main character can stick to walls and shoot around corners...

The rumor doesn't say which Western developer would be/is doing it, other than that they're LA-based (who isn't?).

Devil May Cry 4 Features Achievements on PS3 VersionPosted 4:18pm Mon Jan 07, 2008 by Shiva Stella Tags: Devil May Cry 4, PlayStation 3, Capcom, Sony, achievements

Reviews of Devil May Cry 4 on the PlayStation 3 have begun circulating the Web today, detailing that the game integrates achievements for the PlayStation 3 version as well as the Xbox 360 one and enables gamers to show those achievements to their friends.

The news is noteworthy considering that Sony has yet to integrate achievements into their PlayStation Network service, though there's always hope that Home (when it finally launches) will make use of the feature.

Reviews are also confirming a 5GB required installation for the game and Sixaxis functionality that allows gamers to control the camera by tilting the controller.

Microsoft, Capcom Team for Devil May Cry 4 360 BundlePosted 11:27am Thu Dec 27, 2007 by Shiva Stella Tags: Devil May Cry 4, Xbox 360, capcom, bundle

The PlayStation 3 isn't the only console getting a Devil May Cry 4 bundle from Capcom, as the company has now made it official that the Xbox 360 is also receiving a DMC4 bundle entitled the "Premium Pack" (as opposed to the PS3 "BD Pack").

The bundle costs 37,800 yen (about $331 USD) and contains an Xbox 360 with a 20 GB hard drive, the game, a wireless controller, an HD AV Terminal D cable, LAN cable, and a media remote. The Premium Pack does not contain a headset, DMC4 gear, or the extra content of the BD Pack. And of course, these bundles only matter if you happen to live in Japan or are in the import/export business.
